Katie - Senior at Ocean Lakes

Today's shoot was fabulous, Katie being a beautiful girl was the key factor, but the gardens and the gorgeous day were also the great ingredients for a perfect shoot. I posted 176 pictures in her gallery on my main website, and here are some of my favorites.

Maternity & family portraits

I work with Michelle and I planned on doing her belly shots since the beginning, thing is, seems to me she's been pregnant for way more than 8 months. We made it happen last Friday and we had the most beautiful day imaginable. It was actually still too sunny out but we worked around it best we could.

Michelle didn't think I would be able to get Alec to smile for me, thing is I never asked him to smile, I dont think you need to smile for a great portrait.   He's 13 and I feel these shots a great representation of him

Oh the beauty of window light

I wish I could shoot everybody next to a big window! Here are some examples of recent captures using only window light. I shot this baby while in Stephanie's tummy, to see those scroll down, but here she is world --- Kendra!


in these pictures she is about 9 days old.   For this easy set up I had the father hold her in his arms near the window while drapped with a black cloth.

 

Austen and Priscilla

Priscilla and Austen are getting married in June and I've been chosen to be their photographer, I met them Sunday for their engagement shoot and as you'll see from the pictures we had fun. They were willing to try all of my ideas. I put my newest lens to work - the bada bing shot and the other wide angle shots came from my new 17-70mm 2.8f lens.

Bye Bye Birdie

Salem High School performed Bye Bye Birdie this week and I was invited to photograph opening night. The show was full of energy and they did a great job. To be able to get these great shots I used my 70-200 2.8l lens, I set my ISO to 1600 and took all these with available light. My canon 40d did a great job at keeping noise to a minimum. Good times, good good times.
